Community Day on Friday May 29th, 2026

Dear Community Partners,

1 am inviting you to join Penobscot Valley High School at our Community Day on Friday
May 29th, 2026. As part of Community Day students will volunteer with community
organizations and engage in beautifying the community. We are also hosting a BBQ for
students and area businesses/organizations to enjoy an afternoon celebrating our local and
school community, and we would love for you to be involved!

In the past 4 years. Community Day has seen students participating in clean up of the
cemetery and local area, visiting the Enfield Station School, clearing and cleaning local
trails, painting picnic tables at Morgans Beach, sorting donations at the Howland thrift store,
meeting with financial advisors from Penobscot Valley Credit Union, volunteering at the
Howland Library and performing at Cummings Health Care. We are so grateful for the
support we have received in the past and are hoping to expand our community outreach to
make 2026 the best year yet!

Here is our tentative schedule:
       • 9:00 -11:00/12:00 -> volunteering at various community sites
       • 12:00 barbeque luncheon for student, staff, and volunteers
       • 1:00 - 2:00 -> fun outdoor (weather permitting) activities and student door prizes

We invite you to participate in Community Day. We are looking for:
       • Student volunteer experiences
       • Locations and organizations in the community that might benefit from volunteer support
       • Create a table for the afternoon to showcase your organization or business and connect
with the students (be as creative as possible to help your table standout!)
       • JOIN US in helping to better our community, be a volunteer yourself!

We hope to thank and ce!ebrate a!l businesses and organizations that support us by inviting
you to our afternoon luncheon and activities.

If you would like to be Involved in this venture, please contact us at
community.day@sau31.org or Shane Yardley at (207)-732-3111.

Thank you for your consideration and for being a valued member of our community!

Sincerely,
The Penobscot Valley High School Community Day Committee

We are just a couple weeks from April break and our Spring Horsemanship Program! This is a great way to introduce horses to new riders! Kids learn from the ground up how to lead, groom, tack up, and ride. It also moves experienced students up to the next level and gets them back in the saddle safely after winter.

This Program starts April 20th, 22nd, and the 23rd. With the 24th as a rain day. It starts at 10am to 2pm. Please pack a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. Dress in warm layers and wear a boot with a low heel. The cost per day is $75 and must accompany child on the first day. Preregistration is advised. Thanks!

For other questions please reach out to Sue French or Hannah. We still have a few spots left!
